Laura Beg, born Laura Begue in 1982 in Port-Louis, Mauritius, is a Mauritian singer specializing in séga, seggae, reggae, zouk, and dancehall. She began her music career at 16, performing in hotels, restaurants, and pubs in Grand Baie, Mauritius. Initially a backing vocalist for Cassiya, she later joined Ravana, founded by Alain. She gained recognition with songs like "Mo Santiman Pou Toi" (2008). In 2006, she won the Étoile d’Or de la Francophonie in Australia for her contributions to the Suprem Séga compilations.
Her debut album, Oté Cafrine (2009), was a major success, followed by Tik Tiker (2011), Mo ti Ker (2014), Intuitions (2017), and Lespri Sega (2022).
Known for hits like "Mo Santiman Pou Toi" and "Zistoir Lamour", she became the first Mauritian artist to participate in Coke Studio Africa in Nairobi, collaborating with African stars like Youssoupha and Yemi Alade (2017), and has performed in Mauritius, Réunion, Australia, and Canada.
Laura Beg excels in Mauritian séga, blending it with seggae, reggae, zouk, and dancehall. She sings in Mauritian Creole, English, and Réunionnais Creole, notably in her cover of "Kia Hua" with Alain Ramanisum.
