Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Originally called simply "RUMBLE", the band formed in February 1993 after singer Roger Dee Burke (D2e) joined the existing trio of Sean Parsons (Gutterboy), Jamie Adams (The Skank) & Ronnie Young (Pak Rat). They began playing local Massachusetts & New Hampshire clubs 5 weeks after D2e's arrival. The debut single ‘Dirty Money’ released in July of that same year received airplay on Boston radio station 94.5 FM WCGY after DJ Harvey Warfield befriended the band. This would be the only release to feature Pak Rat, who was let go shortly after the recording & replaced by Mike Prefontaine (Stain). The 1995 release “Face Down, Bottoms Up” coupled Black Sabbath dirge with vocals that drew comparisons to Skid Row. Although well received by fans, Face Down received poor reviews in the Boston press. In 1996 after Dave Gatulis (Skunk) replaced The Skank on Guitar, D2e began incorporating rap elements into some of the new material which would be showcased on tracks from the album “Mutate” released a year later.

After the recording of 'Mutate', the band parted ways with Stain & welcomed Malcolm Collins to the fold on drums to solidify what would become known as the 'classic lineup'. Throughout 1997/1998, the band played multiple regional dates with Godsmack, Reveille, Tree, Sam Black Church & many other acts increasing the group’s draw on the club circuit. The band name was expanded to ‘RUMBLE Syndicate’ in 1998 due to a UK band also called Rumble. The “Powertrip EP” which included Mutate remixes, radio edits & previously unreleased studio tracks was released in ‘98. RUMBLE Syndicate utilized a DIY approach developing their own mailing list/website campaigns, merchandise line, in-house promotion/booking & indie record label to capitalize on their growing popularity. The next release, 1999's “Liquor Store, Laundromat, Chinese Restaurant” fully incorporated the rapcore sound that the band had developed. The group played the 1999 Locobazooka festival in Worcester, MA with many national acts including Primus & System of a Down then continued to tour non-stop for the next 2 years, canvassing 14 states. With Soundscan sales in multiple markets, the band was approached by major label Sony/440 Records & selected to perform live showcases for several labels at music festivals NEMO, CMJ, SXSW & Atlantis. An EP was recorded at New Alliance Studio in Boston with all tracks released as free downloads to fans on the RUMBLE Syndicate website in 2000. The track ‘Americulture’ received college radio airplay. Under the guidance of producer Anthony J. Resta, the band’s sound matured on the self titled 2001 release, also sometimes referred to as 'Volume 4'.

After years of an incessant write/record/tour schedule, the group’s productivity declined. An acoustic recording of existing songs called ‘Stripped Down’ was done but never released. The group disbanded in 2002, reforming briefly under the name Late for the Sky in 2006.
