Stephen Richard „Steve“ Hackett (* 12. Februar 1950 in London) ist ein britischer Komponist und Musiker.

Besondere Bekanntheit erlangte er als Gitarrist der Progressive-Rock-Gruppe Genesis, mit der er zwischen 1971 und 1977 insgesamt sechs Studioalben veröffentlichte. 1985 war er Mitbegründer der kurzlebigen Supergroup GTR. Des Weiteren hat er zahlreiche Solo-Alben aufgenommen, mit denen er regelmäßig auf Tour geht. Musikalisch bewegt er sich in einem sehr breiten Spektrum, das von Progressive Rock über Blues, Jazz bis zur klassischen Musik reicht. Seine Werke beeinflussten Gitarristen wie Alex Lifeson und Brian May.
