Track Description

"Keep the Lights On" was released as a single from Wave Machines' album Wave If You're Really There (2009). An accompanying video was directed by Aneil Karia.

"This was my first music video" says Karia. "The band's brief, if you like, was that the video either had to be super-sexy or super-dark. So I figured I'd try and achieve both. With limited time, the dancers had to work their collective ass off to get the routine nailed - the choreographer, Jen Irons is a true miracle-worker. The shoot was no stroll in the park for them either....while the rain was an aesthetic godsend, those girls had to lay around in it for that final shot - and those forensic suits are literally paper-thin. As if that wasn't fun enough, the location's electricity failed during the final set up. The sparks had to go and pilfer some watts from the old people's home next door! The choreographer Jen Irons and two of the dancers - Laura Williamson and Ann Pidcock - trained at the London School of Contemporary Dance. Ann and the other two dancers - Lexi Bradburn and Jo Stobbs - are founder members of the showgirl troupe 'The Whoopee Beaux Belles' who perform at a huge range of festivals, corporate and artistic events. When discussing the style of dance we should take with Jen and the band, we were all really inspired by the celebrated contemporary choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and particularly her dance-based film Rosas Danst Rosas."
