"Bangla Desh" is a George Harrison song that was inspired by Ravi Shankar and written in response to the disasters, both political and natural, that had occurred in East Pakistan from November 1970 through the first half of 1971.
Released as a non-album charity single at the end of July '71 − just days before the Harrison-sponsored Concert for Bangladesh shows at Madison Square Garden − the single peaked at number 10 in the United Kingdom and number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
