Angine de Poitrine (French: , French for "angina pectoris") is a Canadian rock duo from Saguenay, Quebec. Formed in 2019, the band's two members perform under the pseudonyms Khn de Poitrine (guitar, bass, and looping) and Klek de Poitrine (drums).
History
The duo have been performing together since they were teenagers. They first performed as Angine de Poitrine (named after the medical condition angina pectoris) in 2019, but did not begin performing consistently as the group until 2023. Their costumes and on-stage personas were initially created as a "joke", and the band called it an "Andy Kaufman-esque trick we were playing on our local crowd". Having been told they could not perform in back-to-back weeks at the same venue, they did one show as themselves and one disguised in costume. As the band has evolved, the members have remained anonymous, which is their preference.
Angine de Poitrine gained early attention through independent online releases and festival appearances in Canada. Their debut album, Vol. 1, was released in 2024. In February 2026, the band's recorded live session for radio station KEXP circulated widely online, bringing the duo increased international recognition. The band will tour the UK and France followed by dates in Canada, before playing its first shows in the United States in August 2026. They have sold out concerts in New York, London and Rennes, and high demand led them to add additional shows in Europe in late 2026.
Critical reception has emphasized their originality, technical ability, and distinctive visual identity. Their discography includes the album Vol. 1 (2024) and the singles "Mata Zyklek" (2025) and "Fabienk" (2026), released ahead of their second album Vol. II, set for release on 3 April 2026.
