Hiss, whose real name is Choi Hyeon-seo, is a South Korean beatboxer recognized for his clean technique, technical proficiency, and structured musical style. He began beatboxing at a young age, developing his skills within the growing Korean scene to become a prominent figure in the international community. Over the years, he has established himself as a consistent competitor and a key representative of Korean beatboxing on the global stage.
In competitive beatboxing, Hiss has built a significant track record. He won the Korea Beatbox Championship (Solo) in 2018 and the Asia Beatbox Championship (Solo) in 2019. Earlier in his career, he also secured first place in the Tag Team category at the Asia Beatbox Championship 2017 alongside BigRoad as the duo HissRoad. His other victories in the battle circuit include winning Die To Die Vol.2 (Solo) in 2016, Cloud Festival Vol.2 (Solo) in 2017, the 7 To Smoke at the Beatbox Legends Championships in 2018, and the Beatbox United Online Battle (Solo) in 2022.
At the Grand Beatbox Battle (GBB), one of the most prominent global events, Hiss has frequently placed among the top contestants. He earned second place in the Solo category in 2017 and followed this with a third-place finish in 2018. In 2025, he returned to the GBB podium, taking second place in the Tag Team category together with Wing as the duo Hiss & WING.
Outside of the battle scene, Hiss is a central member of Beatpella House, a South Korean ensemble that blends beatboxing with vocal performances to create full musical arrangements using only human voices. The group has gained considerable visibility in Korea through busking performances and appearances on mainstream television. Through these activities, Hiss has contributed to the broader recognition of beatboxing as a musical genre in his home country, reaching audiences beyond the specialized beatbox community.
