Artist Biography Available in: Stefan Schilli (* 1970 in Offenburg ) is a German oboist and university professor.
Schilli began playing the oboe at the age of twelve and studied at the Karlsruhe and Trossingen Universities of Music with Thomas Indermühle and Diethelm Jonas before becoming principal oboist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1991. He is also a member of the Avalon Wind Quintet and the Ensemble Triolog Munich, which is dedicated to the performance of contemporary music . Stefan Schilli is also committed to playing historical oboes and is a founding member of the baroque ensemble L'Accademia Giocosa . He has performed under renowned conductors such as Lorin Maazel , Mariss Jansons , Colin Davis , Reinhard Goebel , Christopher Hogwood , and numerous others. He has won numerous competitions, including the German Music Competition in 1993 and the ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 1996, the same year he was awarded the Brüder-Busch Prize. Since 2004 he has held a professorship at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
