Bareda (real name Devon Dowdell), born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, is a rapper known by his alter ego Mr. Wrong. He became a writer and performer on MTV's Lyricist Lounge Show in 2000, where he worked alongside notable artists including Da Brat, Snoop Dogg, Mos Def, and Common. Bareda is best known as a founding member of the Detroit-based rap collective Raw Collection, formed in 2001 alongside LoDown, Reddbone, Sky Scrilla, and Vanzetti. His musical style reflects the distinctive Detroit hip-hop aesthetic, characterized by sharp lyricism and collaborative group dynamics.
Throughout his career, Bareda has collaborated with prominent artists including Eminem, Cee-lo, Twista, Memphis Bleek, and Ja Rule, and toured alongside OutKast, Goodie Mob, and the Youngbloodz. In 2003, Raw Collection won Album of the Year for Private Circle and Song of the Year for "Talk That Shit Now," which appeared on the Anger Management Mixtape hosted by DJ Green Lantern. Bareda released his debut solo album Wrong as Hale in 2004 on his own Singles Klub imprint, which earned strong regional acclaim and won Album of the Year at the Detroit Hip-Hop Awards. The album featured collaborations with Zelah, Guilty Simpson, and other local Detroit artists, with "Somethin Bout the Yak" recognized as Song of the Year.
