Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
O-1 (Otha Miller) is a rapper from Queens, New York. He began his rap career in 1994 with the hip hop group Cash Money Click alongside members Chris Black and Ja Rule, with whom he worked with producer DJ Irv (later known as Irv Gotti). The group released their debut single "Get Tha Fortune" independently in 1994, and after signing with TVT Records, the song was re-released later that year as the B-side to their second single, "4 My Click", which featured Mic Geronimo and became popular on pirate radio, eventually receiving airplay on Yo! MTV Raps. Plans for the release of the group's self-titled debut studio album were brought to a halt in 1995 after Chris Black was sentenced to five years in prison and the group was dropped from TVT.
After Cash Money Click disbanded, O-1 became an affiliate of Murder Inc. Records, founded by Irv Gotti. O-1 (previously known as Nemesis) appeared on Ja Rule's second studio album Rule 3:36 (2000) and on the 2002 Murder Inc. compilation Irv Gotti Presents: The Inc. O-1 co-wrote "Murder Reigns" on Ja Rule's 2002 album The Last Temptation. O-1 appeared on every Ja Rule release until The Last Temptation, after which label conflicts regarding Cash Money Click material rights prevented further major label recordings.
