Agnete Saba (born Agnete Kristin Johnsen on 4 July 1994 in Varangerbotn, Nesseby, Norway) is a Sami-Norwegian singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the teen punk band The BlackSheeps. Her music career began at age 14 when The BlackSheeps won Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2008 with the song "Oro jaska, beana," which earned a Norwegian Spellemann Award for hit of the year and led the group to victory at MGP Nordic 2008. She is the daughter of Sami children's author Signe Iversen and adopted the surname Saba in 2020 to honor her grandmother's maiden name.
In 2016, Agnete represented Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest as a solo artist with "Icebreaker," a song she co-wrote with Gabriel Alares and Ian Curnow, after winning Melodi Grand Prix 2016. Though the song did not advance past the semi-final, her Eurovision appearance marked a significant milestone in her transition to a solo career. Following Eurovision, she took a break from the public eye to focus on her mental health. She has since continued her music career, participating in the Norwegian series "Hver gang vi møtes" and releasing music that reflects both her pop sensibilities and her Sami heritage.
