Cerekloth was a Danish death metal band hailing from Copenhagen, active primarily during the 2000s and early 2010s. Formed in 2008, the group delivered a unique blend of death metal that balanced the raw aggression of old-school death with a bleak, almost doom-like atmosphere. Their sound was marked by ominous melodies, guttural vocals, and a dense, suffocating guitar tone that set them apart from their peers in the Scandinavian extreme metal scene.
Cerekloth released a handful of demos and EPs before unleashing their sole full-length album, In the Midst of Life We Are in Death, in 2013 via Hells Headbangers Records. The record received positive attention in underground metal circles for its grim aesthetic and relentless sonic assault, drawing comparisons to bands like Incantation, Autopsy, and early Immolation, while carving out its own identity rooted in Scandinavian darkness.
The band featured members from various other notable Danish acts, and while their time as an active unit was brief, Cerekloth left a lasting impression on fans of uncompromising, sinister death metal. Their work remains a cult favorite among enthusiasts of the genre, remembered for its bleak atmosphere and dedication to death metal’s most macabre traditions.
