Baby G, born Max Elisabeth in Schœlcher, Martinique, is a reggae and ragga-dancehall singer. He began singing in a church choir at age ten and later immersed himself in Martinique’s sound system scene. Discovered by Don Miguel, he recorded Children of Africa with Hibiscus Records.
In 1995, he traveled to Jamaica, releasing his debut album Hileaf with producer Fatta Linford Marshall. Settling in Paris, he released H.I.M., a French reggae classic, followed by Reggae Night (2004) and Libre (2008), his most accomplished work. Nicknamed “The Sweet Voice from Madinina,” he promotes tolerance and Rastafarian values, blending roots, nyabinghi, and dancehall.
Active in compilations and collaborations with artists like Anthony B and Yaniss Odua, he released the Horizon video in 2016 and remains a key figure in French Caribbean reggae.
