Christophe Heral is a French composer and sound designer for cinema, especially animation, television and video games. He was born in Montpellier on November 24, 1960. He is the brother of jazz drummer Patrice Héral.
Christophe Heral began learning music as a teenager, first playing the guitar and then taking composition lessons at the age of 17. In 1985 he created his first soundtrack for an animated short film, a genre for which he then worked more and more, for television as well as for cinema. In 1999 he was recommended by Hubert Chevillard to Michel Ancel who was looking for a composer from the 7th art for his next game, Beyond Good and Evil.
He works with Jean-François Laguionie and will compose the music for two of his feature films, Black Mor Island and recently the Voyage of the Prince, a film co-directed with Xavier Picard
In parallel to his creations for animation, he continues to collaborate with Michel Ancel, notably by composing the music for the games Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends with Ubisoft Montpellier for The Secret of the Unicorn, and is currently working on Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Wild.
