Ludovic Bource, born August 19, 1970 in Pontivy in Morbihan, is a French arranger and composer.
Ludovic Bource studied at a conservatory in Brittany and then at the CIM, a jazz school in Paris.
He started composing for commercials directed by his friend Michel Hazanavicius and soundtracks for short films.
He worked on Alain Bashung's album L'Imprudence, composed for the singer Little and composed the arrangements for the album Dirty Centre by the band Svinkels.
Michel Hazanavicius entrusted him with the music of his first film Mes amis (1999) but he is best known for having co-composed with Kamel Ech-Chekh the music of the films OSS 117: Cairo, nest of spies (2006) and OSS 117: Rio ne répond plus (2009) by Michel Hazanavicius.
He also composed the music for the environmental documentary Nous resterons sur Terre released in 2009.
Finally, he is the award-winning composer of the film The Artist (performed and recorded by the Brussels Philharmonic and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra), screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2011. In 2012, this feature film earned him the distinction of being the only composer in the history of cinema to win the César and the Oscar for best music in the same film. With The Artist, Ludovic Bource joins the very closed circle of Maurice Jarre, Michel Legrand, Georges Delerue, Francis Lai, Gabriel Yared and Alexandre Desplat, the rare Frenchmen awarded by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
