Francesca Dego ( Lecco , 17 March 1989 ) is an Italian violinist with an American mother.
Daughter of Giuliano Dego , Italian writer and journalist, and Margaret Straus, American of Jewish origin , she began studying the violin at the age of four under the guidance of her father, an amateur violinist. A year later she was admitted to study at the Fairbanks School of Performing Arts in California with Michael Tseitlin and at nine she met her mentor Daniele Gay , who followed her until she graduated from the Milan Conservatory in 2006.
He studied with Salvatore Accardo at the Chigiana Academy of Siena and at the Stauffer Academy of Cremona and in 2010 he obtained a Masters in performance at the Royal College of Music in London under the guidance of Itzhak Rashkovsky . In 2004 he met Shlomo Mintz who made a profound contribution to his artistic development.
Her solo debut takes place at the age of seven in San Diego with a Bach concert , starting a career that will lead her to play at the Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatory at the age of 15 and together with Shlomo Mintz at the Teatro dell ' Tel Aviv Opera at 16.
In Italy she performed with the main national orchestras, including the Fenice Philharmonic , the Giuseppe Verdi Symphonic Orchestra of Milan , the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic of Parma, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, the Orchestra of Tuscany and orchestras of Genoa, Bari, Bologna, Trieste and Verona. Abroad he has played with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra , the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , the Philharmonia Orchestra , the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra , the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra , the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra , theOrchestra of the Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires, the Classical Orchestra do Sul , the Mannheimer Philharmoniker and the Orchester Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo .
He has collaborated with conductors and chamber musicians such as Salvatore Accardo , Roger Norrington , Christopher Hogwood , Donato Renzetti , Gabriele Ferro , Bruno Giuranna , Gianluigi Gelmetti , Wayne Marshall , Antonio Meneses , Domenico Nordio , Xian Zhang . Form a stable duo with the pianist Francesca Leonardi .
She has been married since June 2015 with the conductor Daniele Rustioni . He records for Deutsche Grammophon .
Winner of numerous national and international competitions, in 2008 she was the first Italian woman to enter the final of the Paganini Award in Genoa since 1961 , also winning the special “Enrico Costa” prize reserved for the youngest finalist .
