Koncept was a punk band from Belgian North Limburg. Between 1998 and 2009 this band performed in Belgium and the surrounding area.
The music is characterized by influences from Motörhead as well as De Heideroosjes and Belgian Asociality. They themselves used the term "Betonpunk (Concrete Punk)" to describe their raw unpolished style. In doing so, they wanted to contrast themselves somewhat with the more popular and very accessible pop punk groups that can often be found in the charts today.
The lyrics of their songs are written in English, Dutch and the Maasland dialect. The subjects of songs are varied and are characterized by their critical yet humorous view on social phenomena (such as commercial phone games on TV for example)
In 2005 they self-released their debut Pearls for the Swine, on their own label Bom-Tik Records, where more than 400 copies were sold.
They performed at Europe's largest punk festival Wasted in the Melkweg (Amsterdam) and Hof Ter Loo in Antwerp. In 2006 the band went to Great Britain for some gigs. A year later their second full CD was released, entitled Indeed, again under their own management. A second headline tour of England followed.
In 2009 the band split up. The members each went their separate ways in new projects such as Lucky Sinners, Fnarffenknügel, Violent City and The Lawn Mowing Sundays.
In 2014 Koncept got back together for some reunion gigs.
After the sudden death of singer Jim in 2015, the band was finally disbanded.
