Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Julia was founded as a cover band at the beginning of 2000. The program included songs from bands like Rage Against the Machine, Deftones and System of a Down. One year later they started to write their own songs. In 2002 and 2003 the band released the EPs Anti Depression Air Condition and Put to Sleep.

With their debut album Songs About Decay, released in January 2004, they developed into a rock great in Austria. Additional tours in Germany and Switzerland with 4Lyn and Die Happy followed. This was also made possible by the enthusiasm that Julia caused at the Austrian alternative radio station FM4 with her sometimes romantic-melancholic, sometimes punk rock style. Especially the singles Perfect and Estelle were played frequently and were in the Top 20 of FM4 for over 5 weeks. Furthermore the band was nominated for the Alternative-Award in the context of the Austrian music award "Amadeus".

In 2005 their song Beautiful with new lyrics served as the official song of the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men 2005, which was held in Vienna and Innsbruck. At the opening ceremony Julia performed the song and reached an audience of millions through the TV broadcast.
