Artist Biography
Available in: gb icon
Dovey Magnum, an upcoming Reggae/Dancehall artiste out of Atlanta, GA, has been creating waves across the United States and of course her hometown. Dovey was born Simsky Kimberly Harrison, a Jamaican native in Spanish Town, St Catherine. Her love for music was detected at a very young age. Dovey’s passion for reggae music started with the influence of the “Legendary” Bob Marley and continued to grow with the influences of the former “Queen of Dancehall” Lady Saw and the Tracey Champion.

She started acting upon her musical journey in early 2011. As a female artist her drive and hard work led her to work with various Reggae artists such as Beenie Man, Lady Saw Voicemail, Baby Cham, Macka Diamond, Konshens, Tifa, Black Ryno, and Alkaline just to name a few. Dovey has a unique and edgy style of her own. Edgy enough for the “Queen of Dancehall” to reference her as her twin the first time she opened a show for her in Atlanta. Her first single “Kitty Tight” recorded in late 2011 was the favorite amongst the ladies of Atlanta and took the local dancehall scene by storm. She then released the track on Social Media, which started the pathway for her successful music career. Following “Kitty Tight” was another track called “Daddy”, which was written for her father. The track is full of emotions and sentiments which showed the softer side and versatility of Simsky. This too was loved by her fans.

In 2013, 2014, and 2015 Dovey Magnum was nominated for Atlanta’s newest and hottest local reggae female artist in which she walked away the winner consecutively. Currently she is working on her sixth track extended play (EP), which is schedule to be released early 2016. She is also heating up the D.J’s playlist with her hit single on ZJ Liquid Good Book Riddim, “Sick Inna Mi Head”. Her current 2016 release “Me Nuh Mine” produced by Offshore and Tephlon is presently heating up the social media sites.
