"Eli Cook" (born April 24, 1986) is an American blues singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer.
Eli Hudnall Cook was born in Nelson County, Virginia, United States. He learned to play the guitar by the age of 13, while growing up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. His professional career commenced by performing acoustic blues at Rapunzel's Coffee House in Lovingston, Virginia just two years later when he was l5, playing variously acoustic and electric live sets. His repertoire and audience expanded as he began playing gospel shows and revivals in several counties. He formed his first electric trio, The Red House Blues Band, when he was l6, and performed at the James River Blues Society Blues Competition at Sedalia, taking third place that year. Eli was called a 'blues phenomenon' by reviewers in near-by Charlottesville. Cook self-released his debut album, Moonshine Mojo, in 2004, while he was only 18 years old.
Eli has been earning rave reviews from both critics and fellow blues musicians alike - Tinsley Ellis called him a triple threat, obviously a great guitarist but also an emotive singer and an innovative songwriter. He's in the vanguard of young,21st century blues rockers. The cover of Blues Matters! magazine (No. 86) featured Cook. He was listed in third place in Blues Matters! 2015 Writer’s Poll, as the Favorite International Blues Solo Artist. All Music Guide " Natural and convincing, he has what it takes to be the best blues singer of his generation."
