Thomas Arnesen, born May 23 1952 in Mora, is a Swedish jazz and blues guitarist, singer.
Trained at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, and Music Science, Uppsala University. He has released four albums under his own name, and appeared on recordings with, among others Panta Rei, Anders Widmark, Claes Janson, Kjell Öhman, Egil Johansen, Tomas Ledin, Gosta Linderholm, Cornelis Vreeswijk.
Sources of inspiration ranging from Clapton, Hendrix, Beck, BB King, Peter Green, and other blues / rock musician Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, John Schofield and others as more are classed as a jazz / fusion guitarists.
After the treaty off the piano in the local music school for ten years, he started on his own with guitar. From the beginning it was the blues that was the great interest. Through interaction with other musicians such as saxophonist Johan Högman, jazz became more and more interest, which eventually led to the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and pedagogical training for improvisation. Main instrument was then guitar and bi-instruments piano.
During the 80's and 90's, he played jazz and blues approximately half / half, dedicated since 2002 mainly concentrating on the quintet Arnesen Blues Band.
