Schandmaul is a prominent German medieval folk rock band from the Munich area. Formed in the summer of 1998, the group has become one of the most successful driving forces of the European medieval rock and folk scene, celebrated for blending modern rock structures with traditional acoustic elements. Their name roughly translates to "evil tongue" or "malicious tongue", a nod to their grinning skeletal jester mascot.
Schandmaul builds its signature sound by combining traditional rock instruments (electric guitars, bass, and drums) with a vast array of medieval and folk instruments.
