Laurence Juber, born on November 12, 1952, in Stepney, East London, is a British guitarist, composer, and producer who achieved international recognition as the lead guitarist for Paul McCartney’s band Wings from 1978 to 1981. After winning a Grammy Award with Wings for “Rockestra Theme,” Juber embarked on a successful solo career as a fingerstyle guitarist and released more than two dozen albums. These include LJ Plays the Beatles, which Acoustic Guitar magazine named one of the ten greatest acoustic guitar albums of all time. His solo arrangement of “The Pink Panther Theme” earned him another Grammy Award. As a sought-after session musician, Juber has worked with artists including Ringo Starr, Alan Parsons, and Belinda Carlisle. He has also performed on the soundtracks of films such as Dirty Dancing and Pocahontas, as well as television series including Roseanne and Beverly Hills, 90210. Juber is married to former actress Hope Juber, with whom he wrote musicals such as Gilligan’s Island: The Musical. The couple have two children, including singer-songwriter Ilsey Juber. His photographic memoir, Guitar With Wings, documents his musical career through rare photographs and personal reflections.
