Genesis is een progressieve rockgroep uit het Verenigd Koninkrijk, opgericht in 1967 door Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, Anthony Phillips en Chris Stewart. In de jaren zeventig maakte de groep naam in de avant-garde van de popmuziek met haar dramatiek en zwarte humor, maar gooide in de jaren tachtig het roer om met toegankelijker werk wat de bands vele hits opleverde.
