Jej najpopularniejsze przeboje to „Maria Magdalena”, „In the Heat of the Night”, „Everlasting Love” i „Hiroshima”. Urodziła się w Niemczech jako Sandra Ann Lauer, później przyjęła nazwisko męża, producenta Michaela Cretu. Karierę zaczynała jako członkini tria Arabesque (1979–1984), udzielała się także w zespole Enigma (1990–2003). Łącznie sprzedała na świecie ponad 30 mln płyt, co czyni z niej najpopularniejszą artystkę pochodzącą z Niemiec
