Blood Ceremony ist eine kanadische Rockband, die 2006 in Toronto , Ontario, gegründet wurde . Der Stil von Blood Ceremony wurde als "Flöten-Hexenrock" beschrieben und ihre Texte sind voller schwarzer Magie und Verweise auf klassische Horrorfilme. Ihre Musik wurde auch als Hard Rock , psychedelischer Folk , Progressive Rock und Doom Metal charakterisiert .
Die Band wird von Singer / Flötist / Organist Alia O'Brien, dessen Flötensolos sind Front erinnert an Jethro Tull ‚s Ian Anderson . Torontoist hat Blood Ceremony "Torontos originellste Band" genannt.
Die Band wurde von O'Brien mit dem Gitarristen Sean Kennedy gegründet, der für den größten Teil des Songwritings verantwortlich ist.
Das selbstbetitelte Debüt-Studioalbum der Band wurde 2008 veröffentlicht, gefolgt von Living with the Ancients im Jahr 2011, beide auf Rise Above Records . Die Alben wurden auf Metal Blade neu aufgelegt .

Blood Ceremony war Ende 2009 mit Electric Wizard in ganz Europa unterwegs . [3] Ende 2011 und Anfang 2012 unterstützten sie Ghost auf ihren Europa- und Nordamerika-Touren.
Seitdem haben sie zwei weitere Alben veröffentlicht, The Eldritch Dark (2013, Metal Blade) und Lord of Misrule (2016, Rise Above).
