Sirenia, groupe norvégien de gothic metal, voit le jour en 2001, sous l'égide de Morten Veland suite à son départ de son ancien groupe Tristania, dont il était à la fois fondateur, compositeur et parolier et dans lequel il officiait également en tant que guitariste et chanteur, apportant ainsi une contribution nouvelle à la scène rock-metal-gothique.
