New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) ist eine US-amerikanische Boyband aus Boston, Massachusetts, die 1984 von Produzent Maurice Starr gegründet wurde und aus den Mitgliedern Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg und Danny Wood besteht. Die Band wurde nach dem großen Erfolg von Starrs früherem Projekt New Edition aufgebaut und veröffentlichte ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum 1986, das zunächst wenig Beachtung fand. Der Durchbruch gelang 1988 mit dem zweiten Album „Hangin’ Tough“, das Hits wie „Please Don’t Go Girl“, „You Got It (The Right Stuff)“ und „I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)“ enthielt und mehrfach mit Platin ausgezeichnet wurde. 1990 folgte das ebenfalls erfolgreiche Album „Step by Step“, das den gleichnamigen Titelsong als weiteren internationalen Hit hervorbrachte. In den frühen 1990er-Jahren ging die Popularität der Band zurück, worauf sie sich 1994 auflöste. 2008 feierten NKOTB ein erfolgreiches Comeback mit dem Album „The Block“ und einer weltweiten Tournee, gefolgt von weiteren Veröffentlichungen und Kollaborationen, darunter 2011 mit den Backstreet Boys als NKOTBSB. Die Band verkaufte weltweit über 80 Millionen Tonträger und gilt als eine der erfolgreichsten Boybands aller Zeiten, die den Weg für zahlreiche spätere Gruppen ebnete und bis heute durch Tourneen und neue Projekte aktiv geblieben ist.
