Album Description
Available in:
Monumental is the fourth studio album by Ukrainian melodic metal band IGNEA, released on October 23, 2026, via Napalm Records. Composed and recorded in Kyiv amidst the harsh realities of the full-scale war—navigating freezing temperatures and prolonged power outages—the album stands as a profound "lament to stability."
User Album Review
Unlike its highly conceptual predecessor Dreams of Lands Unseen (2023), Monumental is anchored by a unifying theme: nostalgia in all its complex forms. The album serves as a bittersweet meditation on lost, unfulfilled futures and a celebration of enduring beauty within forgotten places.
Lyrically and visually, the band draws heavy inspiration from Soviet modernist architecture, concrete giants, and retrofuturism. IGNEA uses the symbolism of crumbling concrete and shattered glass around Kyiv to evoke profound personal and collective emotional loss. Even the album's artwork channels this motif, featuring the famous Finnish Sibelius Monument.
