The Song of a Long Forgotten Ghost is the legendary 1993 debut demo by Norwegian artist Mortiis, widely recognized as the foundational release that birthed the Dungeon Synth genre.
Created at the epicentre of Norway's Second Wave of Black Metal, Mortiis swapped his bass guitar for a synthesizer to explore dark ambient soundscapes.
Highly minimalistic, hypnotic, and lo-fi. It relies on repetitive synth melodies to evoke medieval imagery, dark forests, and crumbling Transylvanian castles.

The demo has achieved mythical status and has been consistently reissued across multiple formats:
