Album DescriptionAvailable in:
This album is kind of a new experiment for me, both sonically and conceptually.
Taking inspiration for the name and for the artwok from the Megaman X/Rockman series, this record wants to pay homage to 2D 16-bit videogames and their sound, and at the same time wants to be intended as a collection of fresh rave-y tunes and new atmospheric joints.
The production of the album is focused on resampling, chopping, layering and morphing SNES/SFC soundtracks, and mixing these cuts together with drum breaks, basses, FXs and textures to create some danceable and experimental tunes, that give emphasis to those classic Super Nintendo/Super Famicom sounds but with a modern twist, that I hope can be enjoyable and entertaining for both internet music fans and DJs/ravers.
Track 07 "boss:rush" is produced together with my longtime friend and associate xarxsos, whith whom (and from which) I learned almost everything I know in production, sound design and engineering during the years, and whose experience and taste are unmatchable and present in all of his work. Please go check his music and show him some love, if you like breaks, atmospheres and IDM/EDM, you won't regret it: xarxsos.bandcamp.com
In these tracks there are some references to the world of gaming, as well as some hints to various conceptual suggestions. The character of Vile gives opportunity to reflect about bad feelings and intentions, as well as wondering about the possible crash-outs of robots and artificial intelligences, both on a repressive and on a chaotic/anti-human side.
Some tunes want to indicate the multiplicity and complementarity of some emotions and states, like the songs titled after the anagrams of the word "vile" (combined with the ".sfc" extension of Super Famicom roms), while others just wish to uplift the spirit of the listener, like the two closing tracks.
The song "MPP (Mecha Means Peace)", on the other hand, is an ode to the unbreakable link between the "mecha" trope/subgenre of entertainment and pacifist/anti-militarist ideals, which are deeply rooted in the core of this kind of sci-fi, together with a constant meditation about technology and its uses, effects, beauty and risks. I used and old Text-To-Speech to turn into words some parts of the interview given by Yoshiyuki Tomino, creator of Gundam, to the magazine Animage in May 2026 issue, in which he shares some of his views about war and the true meaning of his works, that is often misunderstood even by fans, who sometimes limit themselves to be only "military otakus". I leave links both to the original magazine site and to a thread that contains the full article in english and in japanese: www.threads.com/@ani.updates/post/DXmOHRYET5g/gundam-creator-tomino-warns-were-on-the-brink-of-world-war-wanting-japan-to , animageplus.jp (you can find the exact words I sampled in the track description on bandcamp).
Best enjoyed dancing, in your room alone or with your friends, or on a dancefloor full of people, but also playing some games, running or riding a bike.
It's been a while since I posted new music and I'm sincerely sorry for that, if you follow my socials or community posts you already know that I encountered various difficulties in the last year or so, but I hope that this record sets the start of a new phase of this whole project (I would call it "Phase 3", for those who know).
I can promise you that the next months will be full of new music, DJ mixes, live sets, collaborations, side projects and a lot of content from my end. Also, I think I can spoil the fact that finally, after months of obstacles, some bigger plans I'm working on, related to physical media and the underground music scene, are soon about to become a reality.
I missed a lot sharing my music with you all and having interactions with the people who listen to my stuff, feel free to share your thoughts on these tunes where you want because any feedback is truly appreciated.
As always, I sincerely thank you all for the love and care you show me, I couldn't keep this project going without your wholesome support,
I really hope you like this record,
Much Love <3
