From the wise words of Harmonic Illusion:
This album started out as the development of an idea I’ve had for quite a few years; that is, taking popular music that I think had potential to be something great (most of which had flopped in some way), and pushing it in the direction that it needed to go to be amazing. For this reason, any listeners should be aware that this is much more of a glorified remix album than a work of original material (compared to my other mainline releases, at least). This is quite simply just me trying to create original arrangements that uplift these songs to a new level. On top of that, these remixes have morphed into a direct fusion of Tech Honors-produced Death's Dynamic Shroud and shoegaze / dream pop, which I find to be a very stellar combination, which you will hear for yourself.
Although this was only meant to be an exercise to try to improve already existing pieces of music, while compiling the earliest drafts of the album, I quickly realized that there was a concept unraveling within the music that was proving to be much deeper and much more personal than I had initially anticipated. Over the past two years, I have had reoccurring dreams about an anonymous girl that I have never met before. She has appeared in various different forms, but has consistently had some amount of pink in her hair. Due to this repeated consistency, this is how I’ve come to realize all of these dreams were connected in some way and not just purely accidental. Every time that I’ve waken up from these dreams, I’ve felt depressed, and a sense that a part of my soul was missing, as if no one had ever loved me as much as she did. I quickly realized that this simple idea I had for an experiment was the only way for me to accurately express my emotions going through this. This music isn’t meant to be technical, it’s meant to be personal. While it’s certainly not healthy to fixate on these visions and feelings that obviously aren’t real, I feel this is necessary to help me move forward without feeling like I’ve left something behind. I’d be curious to know if these dreams were some otherworldly sign about the future, but I know I can’t rely on speculation. Until then, this is the best way I can express myself. This album is dedicated to her, whoever she is.
