(This was supposed to be an April Fools joke originally, but now seemed like a better time to release it, and I'll drop more like this sometimes. Don't worry, the label will still mostly release human made music) Download codes at the bottom of the page. Note that this album, like all AI parody releases on the label, will be deleted after a month, so grab it now while you can. I had originally planned it as a one month only April Fools joke that would then get deleted after the month was up so I will continue with that idea.
The future of music and art is HERE! Please read below:
"You know, for a long time, I hated AI art and music and thought I would never use an AI generator. It is soulless, anti art, anti human, corporate trash meant to make tech bros lots of money and screw actual creators and annoy people that don't want to see AI content all the time but can't avoid it because of how commonplace it is getting. While that is true, at the same time, I realized that by avoiding something and having it on your mind too much, was not the best thing to do and was not healthy.
Instead, for me at least, the best thing to do, I think, is to use the AI generation in a way that is more in line with musical parody artists and plunderphonic artists like Negativland then anything else, and also going against the censorship loving ideals of big corporations, for example by spelling out words how they are pronounced, to get around their obnoxious, automated censorship algorithms (you will see this more with future AI releases, seriously the most tame words are censored, pretty much anything related to anything even remotely sexual is auto censored, such prudes).
Most parody music made by AI is not written by the person generating it, but is lazily auto generated by the AI itself. I despise that personally, there still needs to be a human touch in there for me to even consider caring about AI "art". Even then, even though I did write all the lyrics for this album (or at the very least altered pre-existing ones), I only consider myself about 1/5th of the creator for it, as the AI did everything besides the lyrics.
These AI music generators are interesting, because you can often tell what copyrighted music they used as the source to generate the audio.
This will be especially noticeable on another AI album I'm going to release which will blatantly show that in particular. I have to wonder if these sites will soon get sued into oblivion or not. (I wrote this in like May 2024) I made some tracks that sound extremely close to the originals or at least very close, with basically the same voice as the original singers by very creatively thinking about good input tags to use. I will admit that this is very impressive from a technological standpoint, but it does feel very blatantly plagiaristic, and not in a fun vaporwave way, which at least usually has a human touch and thoughts behind it.
Please don't think that because I released this I want you to send me demos with AI art and music. The only way I would accept an album with AI art and/or music now is if it's a parody album making fun of it. Otherwise I'm not interested. Without a theme behind it, AI art and music does not interest me at all, and I'm not gonna bother to reply to demos of what appear to use AI generated art and / or music unless they amuse me. The only AI generated releases on the label will probably be ones I generated myself. I believe there are a couple releases on the label that have AI art, but I'm not going to retroactively delete the covers."
I made this in around April 2024 and wasn't gonna release it at first. But I realized recently, that most people are complete ignoramuses when it comes to AI for some reason despite it polluting the internet. There's tons of AI generated albums that people are buying on cassette and even vinyl and somehow don't notice it, despite it being insanely obvious to me not to mention tons of digital sales. I hope that by exposing you to some blatant AI music, you become a bit more knowledgeable about it., although this is only the start as it only covers a small amount of music styles.
Also, if you like AI, cool! Enjoy it! AI supporters should stop getting offended when people dislike it though. Like, why do you even care that much? If it's so great, why do you just enjoy it then? Why do you need to pollute the internet with it instead of just enjoying it for yourself? Maybe you realize it's wrong but don't want to admit it? Nah, obviously I'm wrong for being against it. Fuck Occasionally Tapes amirite.
