"Why are you smiling?"

It was a new year, I was filled to the brim with the desire to create, and had put off doing anything about it until I was suddenly given all the time in the world to do so. When March came around everyone in the world had nothing better to do. So I started toying with several different ideas. Many different concepts came and flew out the window. None of them stuck. Neither did this one.

NOBODY LOVES YOU was made as a joke. And let me tell you, the first draft was another joke in itself. Making something akin to classic vaporwave has always been a dream of mine, but the time is long past for creating something as iconic as one of my old favorites, YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD by Phoenix#2772. I'd given up. I'm sticking this in my folder and will never let it see the light of day.

So after a few hours I had 5 tracks completely drafted. Then the next day I had 8 total. I even got the courage to contact Phoenix on Facebook and ask for his permission to release this unwarranted sequel. Graciously, he said yes, and even offered some encouragement. I spent over 10 hours drafting different forms of album art. I renamed this thing 3 times.

From that point on I worked on each track little by little throughout the remainder of May.

A few more tracks, and the album sat on my hard drive from July through August, along with many other ideas I didn't have the nerve to finish. Upon revisiting with some more self-awareness, you can imagine my horror when I realized what I had started had completely changed and became its own monster in itself.

Frantically I tried to resuscitate my long over-grown garden of Fruity Reverb 2 and Parametric EQ.

I tried to give it a point, a meaning

A reason to be worthy of...

"It's here! The amazing, incredible sequel to the legendary You Are Already Dead is out and it's even better!"

And as you can already tell by listening, it was too late. I started with something mediocre, and ended with something worse. I thought I had the correct end position, but my coordinates were far off. 2020 even warped and ruined my own album.

This isn't a sequel to You Are Already Dead.

This has become how I'm feeling right now.

And right now I can't take much more of this.
