"Satyricon" is the second full length studio album from Italian Symphonic Folk metal band MaterDea, released November 1st, 2011 through Midsummer's Eve.
The female vocals are good and it is interesting enough, but where is the folk? It does start creeping in at times with some pipes, violin, acoustic moments, and magical lyrics. It’s a bit as if Blackmore’s Night returned to a Deep Purple/Rainbow sound. There are some mystical chanting moments and spacey passages, but things stay fairly heavy for the most part. Take the rockingest parts of Circulus and you are in the vicinity of the sound.
