“Freaky Styley” es el segundo álbum de los Red Hot Chili Peppers, publicado en 1985 por EMI y producido por George Clinton, el rey del P-Funk. Aquí la banda encontró su alma: el groove como religión.

Hillel Slovak regresa, y con él llega el caos controlado. El disco suena a jam session en un garaje psicodélico lleno de humo. Temas como “Jungle Man”, “Hollywood (Africa)” y “If You Want Me to Stay” mezclan funk, punk y un sentido del humor absurdo.

Fue más coherente, pero seguía siendo un secreto underground: aún eran una banda para los que sabían dónde estaba la fiesta.
