No querían repetirse y decidieron experimentar con texturas electrónicas, loops y ambientes más atmosféricos. Canciones como “The Chemicals Between Us” o “Warm Machine” reflejan esa voluntad de cambio, acercándolos por momentos al terreno de U2 o Garbage.

Aunque los fans más puristas torcieron el gesto, el álbum funcionó bien comercialmente y confirmó que Rossdale tenía un olfato melódico capaz de trascender modas.
