"Return to Ommadawn" es el álbum de estudio número 26 de Mike Oldfield. Siendo una secuela de su tercer álbum "Ommadawn". Publicado el 20 de enero de 2017 en formato CD, CD/DVD, LP y Descarga Digital por el sello discográfico Virgin EMI Records. El formato CD/DVD-Audio contiene una versión viene en sonido envolvente 5.1 .
Mike Oldfield siempre tuvo en mente realizar una secuela de su tercer álbum, en principio el álbum ha jugado con la idea de crear una secuela de "Ommadawn" en el pasado; "Amarok" se compuso para terminar siendo Ommadawn II, pero al final tomó su propia dirección.
El 16 de octubre de 2015, declaró en Twitter, "continúo trabajando con algunas ideas para "Un Nuevo Ommadawn" durante la última semana espero que funcione." El 8 de mayo de 2016, declaró en su página de grupo de Facebook que la secuela de Ommadawn con el atractivo título de "Return to Ommadawn" estaba finalizada, estando a la espera de una fecha de lanzamiento por la compañía discográfica.
El 7 de diciembre de 2016, anunció en Facebook que la fecha de lanzamiento sería el 20 de enero de 2017, adjuntando también una muestra de 30 segundos, y la emisora de radio BBC Radio 2 emitió una versión exclusiva para la radio de 3 minutos.
"Return to Ommadawn" es el primer álbum desde el publicado en el año 1978 "Incantations", que sigue nombrando cada tema como "Parte Una", "Parte Dos", etc, en cada cara del vinilo.
El álbum fue bien recibido tanto por los medios de comunicación como por la crítica, y la música catalogada como un estilo de regreso a sus raíces.

British multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield offers up this warmly crafted sequel to his 1975 classic Ommadawn, marking a return to a more organic style of composing. After polling fans online about what type of approach they'd like to hear, Oldfield was overwhelmingly urged to revisit the acoustic style heard on his first three albums. Eager for the challenge, he spent nearly a year in his studio crafting what would become 2017's Return to Ommadawn, an instrumental meditation on the prog-folk fantasy world he'd originally imagined four decades prior. A true solo effort, Oldfield plays every instrument on the record, which is divided into "Part I" and "Part II," each lasting about 20 minutes in a nod to the original's vinyl format. A pleasing blend of Celtic, folk, and rock elements using a multitude of acoustic and electric guitars, old-school keyboards, mandolins, whistles, and hand drums, Return to Ommadawn is thoughtful in its construction, unfurling in a dreamy fantasia that indeed recalls Oldfield's early days, but softened with the nostalgia of accumulated age. The emotional arc of the album is subtly instituted with the gentler peaks of "Part I" eventually becoming quite majestic in the final two movements of "Part II." Oldfield's Ommadawn is an enchanted place and this lush revisitation both honors his initial creation and neatly extends its boundaries.
