Romanization rule?

Tue Oct 09, 2018 8:53 pm

Hi, after unsuccessfully being able to find Kahimi Karie I realised she is already included in the DB but with her original name using Japanese characters. Shouldn't the DB be as plural as possible allowing only latin characters for main name/title (so you can easily search whatever you are interested in) and then region-specific/original names (using whatever characters are needed) in the alternate names field?

Regards and thanks in advance.

As a standard we support the original name on MusicBrainz, but in fact all you need to do is add the English name as an "Alternate Name" on the edit page. This will ensure they show up on all searches including the API.

EDIT: it looks like this has already been done, so it should already work.

Good afternoon, Zag.

Yes, it works because you can search by the alternate artist name and you get the proper result, but only showing the default title field. Anyway, it seems that Kodi's scrapper is not compatible with the feature because it returns no results when searching using the default title.

Regards and thanks.
