Peter Raeburn is a British composer, music producer, and songwriter born in Johannesburg, South Africa, who has won over 70 industry awards. He is the founder and creative director of Soundtree Music, and is highly regarded for his film scores, television soundtracks, commercial audio branding, and solo albums.
Born in Johannesburg, Raeburn relocated to London during his youth, where he is currently based. Early in his career, he gained significant recognition for composing the soundtrack for the Guinness 'surfer' advert, creating the sound world for Skype, and composing the ITV1 idents theme for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. His track 'Celebrare' was featured in a Smirnoff campaign. In addition to his commercial work, he produced the charity album *Township Sessions* by The Mothers to raise health funds and support health education for communities in South Africa.
Raeburn has composed scores for a wide range of feature films and television series. He collaborated extensively with director Jonathan Glazer, serving as music producer and supervisor on *Sexy Beast* (starring Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley), *Birth* (starring Nicole Kidman, Lauren Bacall, and Danny Huston), and *Under the Skin* (starring Scarlett Johansson). His soundtrack for *Under the Skin* (2013) received a BAFTA nomination for Best Original Music and multiple critics' awards. He also served as the music co-producer for Lars von Trier's critically acclaimed film *Breaking the Waves* (1996), and contributed music to *Blue Valentine* (starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams).
His other feature film scoring credits include *The Lie* (starring Joshua Leonard), *Woodshock* (A24, starring Kirsten Dunst), *Photograph* (Amazon), *The Dry* (starring Eric Bana), *Things Heard & Seen* (Netflix, starring Amanda Seyfried), *Nancy* (Samuel Goldwyn, starring Andrea Risebrough and Steve Buscemi), *The Last Photograph* (starring Danny Huston), *Dark Was the Night*, and *Fully Realized Humans*. He scored the documentary *Creating Freedom: Lottery of Birth*, which was nominated for Best Documentary at the Raindance Film Festival. In television, he scored the Amazon Prime series *Tell Me Your Secrets* and the Netflix series *Hit & Run*, both released in 2021.
Alongside his screen scoring career, Raeburn has released four solo albums: *You and Me*, *Scape*, *Note To Self*, and *Recovery*. His debut solo album, *You and Me*, was released on the Nowever Records label and contains 12 tracks. He described the album as "imperfect but honest," citing musical influences including David Bowie, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd.
Raeburn continues to manage Soundtree Music and work as a composer and producer. He maintains an active presence on music streaming platforms, where he has recorded 13,869 monthly listeners on Spotify.
