Sparfunkâs musical journey began with early exposure to DJing, which he developed while assisting his father with a disco equipment hire business. He began experimenting with music production at age 17, mixing various styles. While attending school in Hornchurch, Essex, he met future collaborators Shimon Alcoby and Jeff Langton. After witnessing the success of his peers Shimon and Andy C on Ram Records in the mid-1990s drum and bass scene, Sparfunk became involved with Jeff Langton, leading to the formation of Moving Fusion.
