Michał Szpak (born 26 November 1990 in Jasło, Poland) is a Polish singer who rose to national prominence after finishing second on the inaugural Polish season of The X Factor in 2011, and who later represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm with the song "Color of Your Life," placing eighth overall.
Szpak performed on stage for the first time at age nine, winning an award at a young talents competition in his hometown of Jasło. As a high school student he played in the hard rock band Whiplash. He entered The X Factor in March 2011, reaching the final, where he duetted with British X Factor winner Alexandra Burke on "Hallelujah." That year he also appeared at the Orange Warsaw Festival, competed on the Polish version of Dancing with the Stars, and released his debut EP, XI, in December 2011 through Universal Music Poland.
His debut studio album, Byle być sobą (2015), was dedicated to his mother following her death and combined Polish- and English-language songs; a performance from the album won first prize at the 2015 National Festival of Polish Song in Opole. In March 2016 Szpak won the Polish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with "Color of Your Life," going on to finish eighth at the contest in Stockholm that May. In 2017 he became a coach on The Voice of Poland, a role he has held in most seasons since, and in 2018 he released his second studio album, Dreamer. His third studio album, Nadwiślański mrok, a pop-rock record, followed in November 2023 through Warner Music Poland.
