Artist Biography

Jamie-Lee Kriewitz (born 18 March 1998), known professionally as Jamie-Lee, is a German pop singer from Bennigsen, Hanover. She rose to prominence after winning the fifth season of The Voice of Germany in 2015 and went on to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with her single "Ghost."

Kriewitz was born to Michael Kriewitz, a former drummer for the German punk rock band 3Zylinder, and Nicole Kriewitz. She has an older brother, Joey. At the age of 12 she joined the German children's choir Joyful Noise, and at 14 she became vegan. She had originally planned to study Korean before pursuing music. In 2015 she auditioned for The Voice of Germany, turning all four coaches' chairs, and competed on Team Michi & Smudo. After progressing through the battle, knockout and live rounds, she was announced the season's winner with 38% of the public vote. Her winner's single, "Ghost," peaked at number 11 on the GfK Entertainment Charts, and she subsequently signed with Universal Music Group.

In 2016, "Ghost" was selected as one of ten finalists for Unser Lied für Stockholm, Germany's national final for the Eurovision Song Contest, following Xavier Naidoo's withdrawal amid controversy. Kriewitz won the national final with 44.5% of the public vote and went on to represent Germany at Eurovision 2016 in Stockholm, where "Ghost" finished last in the final with 11 points. Her debut studio album, Berlin, was released on 29 April 2016 and peaked at number 18 on the German charts; a second single from the album, "Wild One," followed in September but did not match the success of "Ghost." She supported the album with two headlining tours, The Voice of Germany: Live in Concert (2016) and the Berlin Tour (2016–17). In 2017 she released "Jetzt erst recht!," a collaboration with Fargo used as the opening theme for the Song Contest Eineweltsong.

Kriewitz is an animal rights activist who has worked with PETA, including on their "Vegan life is the best life" project. In 2021, she identified as non-binary, using she/they pronouns.
