DJ Uraken (ウラケン) is a Japanese music producer, composer, arranger, DJ and licensed judicial scrivener, born Kentaro Uramachi (浦町謙太郎) in Nagasaki, Nagasaki Prefecture. While studying at Yokohama National University, he travelled to the United Kingdom in 1996 and was struck by a large-scale rave event outside London, an experience that launched his career as a DJ. He went on to work as a DJ and producer across Japan, the UK and Australia, developing a wide-ranging musical style rooted in dance music that extended into television, commercials, radio and video games, including nonstop mixes for the J-WAVE radio program "TOKIO HOT 100." He handles nearly every stage of production himself, from recording engineering and composing to arranging, mixing and mastering, using PreSonus Studio One as his sequencer of choice.

Uraken began his career in earnest in 1996 by launching Tokyo's first happy hardcore event, "Hardcore Kitchen." His first mix CD, "HAPPY MANIA," was released on Polydor Records in 2000, and in 2001 he produced Angelika's album "IN MY DREAMS" for Imperial Records. In 2002, his remix of Misono's "KONOMAMA," released on the UK label Master Wax, charted highly in both the UK and US and reached third place on Mixmag's annual hard dance chart. In 2004, his remix of a Crystal King self-cover single, "Ai wo Torimodose!! REMIX," was released through Team Entertainment and became a digital hit on Japanese mobile ringtone (chaku-uta) services.

In 2006, Uraken founded his own label, U Records, releasing the mix CD "Hardcore Rave," which reached number two on the iTunes Store Japan dance album chart. He also launched the digital label U Digital for worldwide releases; his tracks charted on the UK download site Trackitdown.net's hardcore chart, with "Wizards of the Sonic" reaching number one and receiving heavy play from top DJs. In 2007, he collaborated with UK hardcore DJs Brisk & Vagabond on the EP "Tokyo Rush," released on Brisk & Ham's label Next Generation Records; the track became the opening track on the long-running UK compilation series' "Bonkers 17." That December, his track "Sweet Dreams," featuring Calyn Tsukishima, was licensed to the UK label Nukleuz and included on the compilation "Hardcore Adrenaline 3," which charted on the UK dance album chart, and was also released as a digital EP in the UK and Ireland.

In 2008, Uraken contributed the original song "Welcome" to Konami's "beatmania IIDX 14 GOLD" and provided music for the entire "Famison 8bit Idolmaster" series on 5pb. Records. In 2009, he formed the production unit FIREWORK DJs with DJ Dragon. Under this unit, he produced "Trouble," featuring Arisa Urahama, as the main track of the "Tokyo Girls Collection 2010" compilation, and in 2010 he provided "Believe in Me," featuring Calyn Tsukishima, for "beatmania IIDX 18 Resort Anthem." FIREWORK DJs made its major-label debut in 2011 on Far Eastern Tribe Records.
