Edward Rubin "Eddie" Griffin (born July 15, 1968, in Kansas City, Missouri) is an American stand-up comedian and actor. He was raised by his single mother, Doris Thomas, a phone company operator, in a Jehovah's Witness household, and attended Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, where he was voted class clown three years running. In 1984, at age sixteen, he moved to Compton, California, to live with cousins; that same year he married for the first time (the marriage ended in divorce in 1997). He briefly enlisted in the U.S. Navy but was discharged for marijuana use, and later spent six months in jail following an assault conviction, supporting himself afterward through dancing and house painting.

Griffin got his start in comedy while working as a busboy at the Stanford and Son's comedy club, and in 1989 he took the stage on a bet at an open-mic night, earning a standing ovation for his family stories. He built a following performing around Los Angeles, including a popular routine impersonating comic Andrew Dice Clay, who subsequently hired him as an opening act. He became a fixture at The Comedy Store and was later ranked number 62 (also cited as 64) on Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time.

Griffin's film credits include The Meteor Man (1993), The Walking Dead (1995), Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999), Double Take (2001), Undercover Brother (2002), John Q (2002), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (2005), and Norbit (2007). On television, he starred as Eddie Sherman in the UPN sitcom Malcolm & Eddie (1996–2000) and later voiced Richard Pryor in the animated series Black Dynamite (2012–2015). He released the stand-up specials You Can Tell 'Em I Said It (2011) and E-Niggma (2019). In music, he contributed to two tracks on Dr. Dre's 2001 (1999) and appeared on releases by Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, and T-Pain, among others.

Griffin has been married four times, including to Rochelle (2002–2009), Nia Rivers (2011–2012), and Ko Lee Griffin, whom he married in 2017. In March 2007, he crashed a $1.5 million Ferrari Enzo owned by producer Daniel Sadek during a charity practice race at Irwindale Speedway, walking away unharmed. He has drawn public criticism for controversial remarks, including defending Bill Cosby against sexual assault allegations and making a disparaging comment toward a Sikh man after the September 11 attacks.
