The Glass Identity Crisis is a rock band founded in 2004 in Indianapolis, Indiana, by singer/songwriter Ken Avery. The group consisted of Ken Avery (guitars, vocals), Nathan Custer (guitars), Jonathan Tongson (bass), and Robby Coleman (drums).

The Glass Identity Crisis found a way to include straight forward rock influence with the twists of odd tunings, clever time signature mash-ups, drums-following-vocals rhythmic function, Avery's piercing vocals, along with clever and haunting lyrics poking everything from mental illness to politics, love, loss, and autobiography.

Before forming The Glass Identity Crisis, Avery had fronted Mayflower Jones, a band out of Carbondale, Illinois, in the 1990s.

The Glass Identity Crisis released an EP, All Time Low, produced by Ken Avery and Scott Alexander. The effort was a solo EP written by Ken Avery that spanned a five year span of material that was significantly autobiographical. He performed guitar, bass, vocals, producing, editing, and mixing with help from former Veritas members, Marcus Lindner on Drums and Andy Berthoux on guitar.

With the EP in hand, Avery posted a Craigslist ad asking musicians to take a listen to the EP and join him to fulfill his creative vision. Avery met Nathan Custer at a Karaoke night, of all places and was shocked that he sang "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness. Avery noted that "not only does that take some balls, the due fucking nailed it". Jon Tongson soon answered the ad and came to the audition not knowing the one song that Avery asked him to learn, but all six tracks. Avery met Robby Coleman about a year prior to putting the band together and made a call that eventually turned into "please, dude, this will be fun". Coleman was the jazz chair at IUPUI at the time and was one of the most accomplished drummers in the city. Coleman joined the band and completed the group as the anchor.

The band performed regularly in and around Indianapolis and the Midwest for several years while working on material at Avery's home studio, Proletarian Studios. Eventually, Jon Tongson, finished his residency as a doctor and took a job in a different state. The group ceased performing in 2012.

Avery continued to work with material that had been recorded over the years and eventually released I've Left the Building in 2016. An album that equated to a decade of writing and recording. Where All Time Low was a themed release, I've Left The Building showcases snippets of Avery's mindset over the years.
