More are a British heavy metal band formed in London in 1979 and associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement. The band was founded by guitarist Kenny Cox and is best known for its early lineup featuring vocalist Paul Mario Day, who had previously been the original singer for Iron Maiden. Drawing on influences from classic hard rock and emerging heavy metal, More developed a sound defined by driving riffs, melodic guitar leads, and powerful, anthemic vocals.
The band gained significant attention in the early 1980s, culminating in the release of their debut album Warhead in 1981 on Atlantic Records. The album established More as a prominent NWOBHM act and included fan-favored tracks such as “Warhead,” “Road Rocket,” and “We Are the Band.” In the same year, More achieved a major milestone by performing at the Monsters of Rock festival at Donington Park, sharing the stage with bands such as AC/DC, Whitesnake, and Def Leppard, which significantly raised their profile.
Despite early momentum, internal changes and shifting musical trends led to lineup instability, and More disbanded in the mid-1980s after releasing a second album, Blood & Thunder (1982). The band later reunited in the 2000s with Kenny Cox as the constant member, returning to live performances and new recordings while maintaining their classic NWOBHM identity.
Today, More are regarded as a respected cult band within the NWOBHM scene, remembered for their early impact, association with the genre’s formative era, and their role in one of the most iconic heavy metal festivals in history.
