Artist Biography

Thomas Stenström grew up in Uddevalla, an industrial town on the Swedish west coast. He started making music at home at the age of ten, but it took time before he committed seriously — and a decisive choice was to start writing lyrics in Swedish instead of English. In 2010 he received the Ted Gärdestad Scholarship, and debut album Nåt annat, nån annanstans arrived in 2012. It was Fulkultur in 2014 and the single “Slå mig hårt i ansiktet” that became the real breakthrough. From there it has been relentless: Rör inte min kompis (2017), Spring baby spring (2021), the mega hit “Andas in andas ut” which was streamed over 12 million times, and Superlativ 97 (2023) which went straight to the top of the album chart and won Artist of the Year and Pop of the Year at the Grammis as well as Song of the Year at P3 Guld in 2024. In August 2025 came the album Sverige — a collection of stories from his life and from twenty years on the road. 2022 marked the start of a new era with sold-out concerts at Avicii Arena and Scandinavium, and the Superlativ Tour filled Tele2 Arena, Malmö Arena and Oslo Spektrum.

The music is a blend of raw energy and poetic nerve — Swedish-language rock and pop with lyrics that hit where it hurts the most and feels the best. Stenström writes about the big and small moments of everyday life with an honesty that makes the songs feel personal whether you are from Uddevalla or Oslo. The melodies are made to be sung along to, the choruses lodge themselves firmly, but beneath the accessible surface there is always something deeper.

Live, Thomas Stenström is one of Sweden’s most treasured artists. He has said himself that he always plays until he is completely drained — and it shows. When he played his only Swedish concert of 2025 at Zinkensdamms IP in Stockholm, he gathered 15,000 people, and the evening was later released as a live album. He is known for creating a sense of togetherness and presence that makes his concerts feel like something more than music.
