Lauren Ruth Ward was born (on a Friday), November 4, 1988 in Baltimore, MD. After High School she worked as a barber/colorist in her hometown.
As for music: ” I played guitar as a hobby and sang at some talent shows in high school, but then didn’t touch the guitar again until I turned 18. At 21, I started writing songs again.”
In 2012 she auditioned for The Voice. Auditions were held in New York. She was one of 147 finalists who were flown out to Los Angeles. In LA, she was cut in the first round, but her final audition never aired.

Her first manager found her via her Youtube channel and convinced her to move to LA in January 2015 to push her musical career. Once in LA Lauren still worked part-time as a barber/colorist while pursuing her musical dream.
Lauren met Eduardo Rivera, her core band member/guitarist/songwriter at her EP release party in 2015. First song they written together was “Did I Offend You”. Ever since then they are inseparable. In January 2016 Lauren Ruth Ward put out her self-titled EP.
In 2017 she quit her part-time job, however she did still cut hair in her backyard. She fully concentrated on her musical career. In September 2017 she held 3 shows in support of the release of her first album titled ‘Well, Hell’.
In January 2018 she held her first residency at the Echo. Due to the incredible demand her last 2 shows were pushed to a larger venue, Echoplex. On the 29th March she held a sold-out show at the Trubadour to celebrate the worldwide release of her album.
Privately, Lauren is engaged to a fellow singer/songwriter, LP. They have been together since July 2015.
