Artist Biography
Available in:
Alongside musicology studies at the Sorbonne and research in the Italian musical collections of several European libraries, Geoffroy Jourdain became involved very early in the direction of vocal ensembles and founded, while he was still a student, Les Cris de Paris, quickly recognized for the audacity of their artistic project and for their investment in favor of contemporary creation. He is also passionate about the repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries and ethnomusicology.
In the company of artists from different practices (theater, dance, visual arts, video, etc.), he is interested in the place of music on stage, and in concert conventions.
From 2002 to 2010, he co-directed the young Paris choir with Laurence Equilbey and the Paris Orchestra Choir with Didier Bouture.
He divides his activity between his company and invitations to conduct other groups: the Capella Amsterdam ensemble, the Colombian Symphony Orchestra (Bogotá), the choir of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra...
